Their Story
A Journey Through the Years
The Devani Christmas Party
Dave and Kathy met completely by accident at the Devani Christmas Party, a raucous annual affair. Kathy had come along with her sister Mel, who was dating one of the crowd at the time. Dave got her number — and then never called.
A detour through West Hartford
Attending a wedding in West Hartford, Dave realized he was not far from Kathy's home. He stopped by unannounced to say hello. The rest, as they say, is history.
Wedding day
Dave and Kathy were married, surrounded by family and friends. The celebration went long into the night.
Third floor walk-up, Waterbury
The early years were characterized by frugal living. Dave and Kathy made their first home in a spare third floor walk-up in Waterbury — no air conditioning, plenty of character.
Jonathan arrives
Their first son, Jonathan, was born in November of 1982. The family was growing.
Putting down roots in Watertown
Dave and Kathy moved into what would become their longtime family home in Watertown. Daniel followed in May of 1985, and Matthew in 1990 — three boys, one house, endless noise.
Kathy, the visiting nurse
Kathy worked part-time as a visiting nurse, arranging her schedule so she could always be there for the kids. It was a quiet kind of dedication that held everything together.
The renovation
Dave redesigned the Watertown home from top to bottom, planning every inch of the renovation himself. The house that had sheltered a growing family became something truly theirs.
Wakefield
Dave and Kathy purchased a second home in Wakefield, Rhode Island. Life there has settled into a lovely rhythm — walks on the beach, afternoons by the pool, and classes at the community center.
