The Devanney Christmas Party
Kathy met Dave completely by accident at a Christmas Eve party at the Devanneys. Mel had asked her to come along. Dave got her number and then never called.
A Beer Bash at UConn
Met Dave and friends at a Beer Bash at UConn. The start of a friendship and many study breaks.
Dave shows up
Attending a wedding in West Hartford, Dave realized he was near Kathy's house and showed up unannounced — all dressed up with short hair. They went out every two weeks that summer.
Florida, against all advice
Dave and Kathy went to Florida against her parents' wishes and decided to get married soon after. When Dave asked her father, he said: "What do you want, the big wedding or the money?" Dave said "I want both!" Her Dad replied: "We will get along well."
Wedding day
Married at St. Peter Claver Church in West Hartford, CT. Reception at Wampanoag CC. Honeymoon at St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. They moved into a 3rd floor walk-up on Roseland Ave in Waterbury and saved their money.
First house, Watertown
They bought a 2-family home on Hart St. in Watertown, CT. Kathy was working at Mender-Wallingford Hospital; Dave continued at Timberland. They fixed up the first floor and rented out the upper level.
Jonathan Andrew Goulet
Their first son, Jonathan, was born.
Farmdale
They moved to a single family home on Farmdale — $90,000 at 14% interest. They had doubled their money on the 2-family. They really loved living there.
Daniel Robert Goulet
Their second son arrived. Dave's home office became the nursery, so they built a new office in the basement. Dave said he was going to the dungeon to work.
Matthew Thomas Goulet
Their third son was born. With three boys, life was busy. Kathy had switched to home care P.T. for the flexibility it offered.
The renovation
The house was getting too small. Dave designed an extensive renovation himself, found a builder, and the family moved out for 7 months. They moved back in November 1998.
25th anniversary
A party at home with the families, then a trip to Bermuda by themselves.
Jonathan & Loi marry
Jonathan and Loi got married in Bristol, RI.
First grandchild
Jon & Loi gave birth to Clara, Dave and Kathy's first grandchild. They flew out to San Jose to greet her shortly after.
Lincoln Goulet
Their second grandchild, Lincoln Goulet, was born in Wellesley.
Rhode Island
After many months of looking, they found a house in South Kingstown. They had always wanted to spend time on the RI shore. They rented it for a year with a contract to buy at the end.
30 Corey Rd.
They bought the house on 30 Corey Rd. in RI. Walks on the beach, afternoons by the pool, and classes at the community center.
Annabel Kathleen Goulet
Matt and Kat's daughter Annabel Kathleen Goulet was born during a blizzard.
